Osaka Travel with Kid! Mar 2018- Day 1

We took advantage of Fly Scoot’s promos last October and bought tickets to Osaka in March 2018. The total worked up to SG$1753 (2 adults, 1 child). We arrived in the evening!

Super Mario greeted us, keke~

After clearing the customs, we headed for the Kansai Tourist Information counter…

To get the Osaka Amazing Pass (2 days) at ¥9900 (SG$125)! It includes free admission to Legoland, Osaka castle, various ferris wheels, hot springs… Free bus/train rides for the entire two days of activating the card… Also discounts for Kids Plaza Osaka and Osaka Aquarium. Considering Legoland alone costs ¥6900 for the 3 of us, it’s really well worth the value!

Going up the escalator…

The weather’s pretty chilly as winter just passed.

Here to buy the ICOCA tickets for our train/subway rides~

There’s a different blue card for children.

Taking the JR airport rapid train from KIX…

To Nishikujo station via the Yumesaki line…

We had to alight here and then transfer to Universal City station. The directions were a bit confusing. Fortunately, we got help from a young couple heading to the same place. Apparently there’s no need to head to the opposite platform.

Upon arrival at Universal City, we exited the station, turned left and less than 5 minutes walk away, it’s our accommodation for the night- Hotel Keihan Universal City!

Such a colourful place~

I chose this hotel as it’s just 5 minutes walk away from Universal Studios Osaka, and we had planned to visit it first thing in the morning. Slightly pricey at ¥32k (≈SG$400) for 2 nights~

The door is super kawaii though~

My 7 year old was in love with the entire place.

There’s even toiletries especially for the young ones!

And even kid’s bath robe!

The hotel was clean and the bed comfortable. Interiors a bit dated-looking but my son was so excited seeing all the colourful decors he claimed it’s “the best hotel!” LOL~

Anyway, as we were tired from the flight, we didn’t bother to queue for the restaurants (yes, there’s a long queue for almost all the diners, lol) and just settled for Mos Burger.

They even gifted seeds! LOL~ We tried planting it when we came back to Singapore but it didn’t sprout, hahaha~~

After dinner, we walked around the area. There’s many shops, including one selling Moomin stuff~

Osaka sweets & biscuits…

This is actually pretty interesting- Frozen gyozas & buns.

Frozen takoyakis. I’m not sure I want to be heating up takoyakis for supper so…

My favourite character-Gudetama!

There’s even character themed mineral water lol~

We had an early night. Our first destination of the trip- Universal Studios! >>> Next post!
